MCH Learning Community Meeting April 19, 2017

Agenda Team introductions and sharing Discussion about TDP revisions Data entry questions, if any Supplies: pull up banners, postcards, other Update on CoIIN Cohort 2 CDR regional meetings/TSC meetings Additional objectives for 2018

Walworth Team Sharing On the phone: Beth, Faith Highlights New staff recently started Received program logins and list of driver educators in the area They are focusing on Elkhorn first, working with the school district

Waushara Team Sharing On the phone: Patti, Stefanie, Judy, Becky Highlights One driving school has delivered TDP a few times, and they have another they will be working with in June, and a third on their goal list Postcards have been distributed through insurance companies, churches, and car dealerships They are planning a booth at the fair in August

Greendale Team Sharing On the phone: Shawne, Madeline Highlights: Delivered TSP as a breakout session for the school wellness fair Targeting the teens’ age range more specifically Have the next TDP session scheduled ahead of time so attendees can refer friends Next event will be in July when they can use the full resources of their community for promotion

Grant Team Sharing On the phone: Jeff Highlights 2 schools are holding kickoff events this month, with attendance of 75 people Bringing on 3 new facilitators Law enforcement has skills and relationships to be successful facilitators They have been distributing TDP postcards

General Discussion Also on the call today were: Wajiha and Melissa from DHS and Deena from Children’s Hospital of WI A number of communities shared examples of great work around building stakeholder relationships and community awareness outreach, that we are not currently reflected in our data. Wajiha and Deena will work on some ideas on capturing those activities. A question was asked about the public response to law enforcement as TDP facilitators. A number of communities expressed positive relationships with their LE, especially surrounding the school liaison/resource officers.

General Discussion (continued) We have access to a list of driving schools in the state. Deena will send the list Grant and Waushara. Madeline and Deena have taught with the updated TDP materials. Feedback is positive. Continue to make suggestions, they will be routed to the group for input, and made on a rolling bases as needed. A number of us have entered data into Redcap now, and it seems fairly intuitive, but if anyone needs help please reach out. There was a request for pull up banners to use at events. We are working with CHOP to obtain artwork and have them printed. CHW will purchase one for each community. Deena will email more updates on timeline and proofs.

General Discussion (continued) If you need additional postcards or resources, let Deena know and we’ll get them for you. Wisconsin will be participating in Cohort 2 of the CoIIN. Deena will be attending training May 25-26, and will update the group after. Each county has a Traffic Safety Commission (through DOT) and most have a Child Death Review team (through Children’s Health Alliance of WI). We should be connecting with them. Jeff shared that Grant also has a Committee for Rural Safety that they participate in. We mentioned adding a second or third intervention option to MCH for 2018. We will schedule time for the team to discuss what this might look like, based on our experiences.

Next meeting Wednesday, July 19 from 9-10 am Send agenda items to Deena by Friday July 14 Plan to report back on progress and activities Recently completed Current work Next steps Watch for updates on CoIIN
