What’s My Cause? Women.

You are my strength, I sing praise to you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely.

Women do two-thirds of the world’s work: but receive only 10% of the world’s income and own less than 1% of land. Women in developing countries on average carry 20 litres of water per day over 6 km.

In many cases, women are the primary care givers, and balancing the challenges of work and family is complex.

And women's health overall around the world is worse than that of men.

Nine million more girls than boys miss out on school every year, according to UNICEF.

Millions of children across the globe are victims of exploitation, abuse and violence each year. They are abducted from their homes and schools and recruited into armed conflicts, exploited sexually, or trafficked and forced to work in abominable conditions.

World Relief Canada partners with indigenous churches and church-based agencies working to empower and support women so that they can build better futures for themselves and their families.

We aim to reach over 85,000 people through these programs.

Women receive training in agriculture, fish farming, water and sanitation, women’s skill development, nutrition, handicrafts and home gardening, just to name a few.

They also receive access to financial services and support, small loans and opportunities for employment.
