The first and second cataracts of the Nile
Cause: Each year the Nile flooded due to rainfall far south of Egypt. So…what then happened because of that flooding? 1. Egyptians could easily predict the floods. 2. The floods left a fresh layer of silt to fertilize the soil = Good farming.
Cause: Egypt had many natural barriers that surrounded it. So…what did that mean for the Egyptians? 1. It was hard to invade. 2. Villages and kingdoms were able to develop.
Cause: When Menes united the kingdoms of Upper and Lower Egypt, he took a bride of the other kingdom and combined the crowns. So…what happened as a result of that? 1. The people of both kingdoms respected his rule. 2. Menes founded the first dynasty.
