Eco Fact of the Week A recent study by the UN revealed that 41.8 million pounds of e-waste were discarded in 2015. Furthermore, over 90 percent of this e-waste was found to be illegally exported or dumped. What is “recycled” is sometimes sent to third- world countries in Africa and Asia to be cleaned/incinerated by workers in sweatshop-like conditions, causing much danger to public health. If you have any old electronics you would like to discard, please make sure to dispose of them responsibly at the designated e-waste drop off locations SSS has around the school. Vignesh Viswanath, President, Students for Sustainable Schools, Hamilton Branch

What is rhetoric? The traditional definition of rhetoric, first proposed by Aristotle, and embellished over the centuries by scholars and teachers, is that rhetoric is the art of observing in any given case the “available means of persuasion.” Rhetorical Analysis: Defining an author’s purpose, and identifying and analyzing the techniques and strategies employed to achieve that purpose.
