A beginners guide to Doing Your Laundry By Joseph Desjarlais
Step 1: Locate an unoccupied washer machine and insert your laundry. Make sure you don’t fill the machine up more than ¾. Generally you want to separate your white and color clothing, to prevent dying mishaps. DANGER ZONE!!!
Step 2: Inserting the Detergent If you have liquid detergent, bleach, or fabric softener pull the tray towards you. If you have a detergent pod, you can pop it in with the rest of your laundry. Use the amount recommended on the packaging with each separate load.
Put liquid bleach in here! Put standard liquid detergent in here! Put fabric softener in here!
Step 3: Paying There are two ways to pay for your laundry. The first way is to use the clipper card machine. Start by swiping your clipper card, then follow the prompts on the machine. Make sure you take a mental note of what machine you are using.
Sometimes the clipper card machine isn’t the most reliable device to use for laundry. The clipper card system is known for taking your money without activating the machine. Generally it is safer to pay for the machines you use with quarters.
Step 4: Fabric Settings Does your washer say SELECT CYCLE? Good! You’re ready to move on! This step is really dependent on how you want the machine to treat your clothes. Make sure you check the tags on your clothing, as some clothing lists the recommended care for the article of clothing. Make sure that when you’re ready to choose, the door is completely closed. As soon as you press a button, the machine will lock until the cycle is complete.
Step 5: Drying After the washer machine cycle is complete, you can remove your clothing and start to dry your clothing. Make sure you check your clothing to make sure it is dryer safe before proceeding. Some clothing will shrink and distort in the dryer!
Step 6: Removing the Lint Make sure before you put your clothes into the dryer, that you remove the excess lint found in these trays. Excess lint build up in dryers can cause fires!
Step 7: Finish! After the dryer is done with your laundry you can take it out! I would advise folding it, but that’s a completely different tutorial!
