Iacchus Names Associated: Also Spelled Iakkhos, referred to the cries that were heard during the procession, demi-god Parents: child of Aura, the titaness of the breeze, and Dionysus, the god of wine. Others say they are Persephone and Dionysis Back Story: Artemis took Iacchus to Olympus where Iacchus became the attendant of Demeter and the leader-in-chief to the Eleusinian Mysteries. Iacchus was depicted as a young male holding twin torches of the Mysteries, usually with Demeter, Persephone, or other Eleusinian gods. Iacchus was the personification of the ritual cry of joyiakhe of the procession of the initiates.

Eleusis Names associated: Was also called Eleusinus Power: The hero of the town, Eleusis Relationships: It is said that he was the son Ogygus or Hermes and Daira, he married Cothonea and had a son named Triptolemus Eleusinian Mystery: revolved around Persephone’s mother, Demeter who was looking for her when Hades takes her, Demeter gains the trust of Eleusis and cares for their son, trying to make home immortal, when Eleusis found out he tried to intervene and got killed

Castalia Other names: Castalia= sewing needle, Cassotis= sewn together, kastalia( Greek) Water spirit Regarded as the daughter of achelous Thrown herself down a well when pursued by Apollo. Similar to a nymph whom Apollo transformed into a fountain at Delphi at the base of mount Parnassos or mount Helicon. Power/ ability: art inspiration, Castalia could inspire the genius of poetry to those who drank her water. The sacred water was also used to clean the delphinian temples.

Parnasos Names Associated: Also spelled Parnassos, The mountain is associated with Apollo, the fountain Castalia and the Muses Power/ Dominion: the inventor of the art of foretelling the future from the flight of birds and also had given his name to Mount Parnassus. He is also said to be the founder of Delphi. Symbol: Mount Parnassus Parents: The son of Cleopompus or Poseidon and the nymph Cleodora

Maenads Their name translates as "raving ones" or Bassarids Power and Dominion: performing miracles Symbols: Often the maenads were portrayed, as inspired by Dionysus, into a state of ecstatic frenzy through a combination of dancing and intoxication. During these rites, the maenads would dress in fawn skins and carry a thyrsus, a long stick wrapped in ivy or vine leaves and tipped with a pine cone. They would weave ivy-wreaths around their heads or wear a bull helmet in honor of their god, and often handle or wear snakes. Parents, spouses, children: Dionysus would punish goddess’ daughters by driving them mad into worshipping him
