Spiderman Movies’ Income

Purpose The purpose of this project is to find out if the weekly gross income of spider-man films depends on the weeks After First Released in theaters.

Weekly Amounts Amazing Spider-man Spider-man 3 Spider-man 2 1.) $90,854,677 1.)$182,070,572 1.)$147,002,059 2.) $51,852,067 2.)$71,287,057 2.)66,254,849 3.) $17,528,296 3.)$36,284,693 3.)$35,940,459 4.) $11,087,723 4.)$21,121,733 4.)$22,374,010 Source: http://boxofficemojo.com/

Graphs

Equations Amazing Spiderman Spiderman 3 Spiderman 2 Points: (1,80) (3,30) 80 - 30 = 50 = -25 1 – 3 -2 Y – 80 = -25 ( x – 1) Y= -25x + 105 R² = 0.92 Points: (1,140) (2,90) 140 – 90 = 50 = -50 1 – 2 -1 Y – 140 = -50 ( x – 1) Y= -50x + 190 R² = 0.84 Points: (1,120) (3,50) 120 - 50 = 70 = -35 1 – 3 -2 Y – 50 = -35 ( x – 3) Y= -35 + 155 R² = 0.87

Prediction We predict that after the 8 week period that it’s in theaters, Amazing Spiderman would make about $800,000, Spiderman 3 would make about $2,500,000 & Spiderman 2 would have made about $3,000,000.

Analysis The Y intercept represents the amount of money made on The first week after release. The X intercept is the week The movie stops making any money.. A realistic domain would be from 1-8 weeks because on average that’s how long movies stay in theaters. A realistic range would probably go up to the 100 millions and not negative because movies don’t make negative money.
