Checklist for indicator development Activity and performance: is it more important to develop indicators reflecting three-dimensional activities or performance? Both are valuable in different ways. Internal and external: external effects are outcomes of an activity that are not incurred by the actor. Internal effects, instead, are incurred by the actor. These effects might be positive or negative. Influence and materiality: it is greatly discussed to what degree companies should be held accountable for the impacts they create and how farreaching their sphere of influence is. Measurability and monetarization: it is a common misconception to think that environmental and social topics are “soft factors” that cannot be measured. Laasch, O. & Conaway, R. (2016). Responsible Business: The Textbook for Management Learning, Competence and Innovation. Sheffield: Greenleaf Publishing.

Changes towards responsible finance Laasch, O. & Conaway, R. (2016). Responsible Business: The Textbook for Management Learning, Competence and Innovation. Sheffield: Greenleaf Publishing.

Action areas for responsible financial management Inclusion: including social and environmental, external and internal indicators in the financial management process is a crucial task for achieving wellinformed and responsible outcomes. Integration: social and environmental factors need to be integrated into the vocabulary and frameworks used in financial management. Harmonization: balance between short-, medium-, and long-term indicators when evaluating performance. Laasch, O. & Conaway, R. (2016). Responsible Business: The Textbook for Management Learning, Competence and Innovation. Sheffield: Greenleaf Publishing.
