We started with a question:

‘as we head towards the year 2020, what questions should we be asking as we plan how to best work with talented young EU musicians?’

What would a model that was transferable to other sectors look like? What skills do orchestral musicians need for 21st century audiences & society? How do we attract new audiences? How do we persuade “non-audiences”? (non audiences = audiences who actively avoid classical music) How should we train the next generation of musical leaders? What would a model that was transferable to other sectors look like? How do we deepen the experience of current audiences? How do we relate our European experience to a cultural context that is increasingly Global? What about employment and jobs in Europe?

A: by going to the audiences in a busy town square and making an attractive engaging environment for the musicians’ performances Aim: attracting new and ‘non’ audiences to classical music
