Special Olympics Spring Games

Cardinals for Special Olympics Committee You will be the point people for anyone to come to with questions 

Thursday Night Set-Up Meet at Ryder Center Arena at 4:00pm Distribute signs for locations Footprints along wall 5-6 people to go to pick up storage materials Unload and put into storage area in the Ryder Center Bring boxes and put together all boxes (make sign that says do not throw away) Soccer team will set up floor mats

Morning of the Spring Games Be there at 6:30am Morning to-do list: Outside signs Organize ribbons Podiums Flags Softball throw Popsicle stick signs with teachers T-shirt Box Committee picture time- 6:40am Greet and thank the volunteers, smile! Ready, set, go!

What to do when Buses arrive Volunteers will remain sitting until teacher name is called One E-Board member on stage One E-Board member by the garage door Committee by the rest of volunteers Instruct volunteers to sit back down with athlete right after

Locations / Jobs Motor Rooms Monitoring Pool Balcony Monitoring Locker Room Monitoring Hallways First-Aid Track Blockers Cheerleaders One-On-Ones Swim team will be with athletes in pool, so if you have time…GO SEE SWIMMING!

Lunch Begins at 11:30 Locations on where to eat No eating anywhere else in the Arena. Not even walking across carpet with food or drink Concession stands are open Lunch provided is McDonalds Happy Meals

One-On-Ones Volunteers responsibility to get athlete to their events and STAY with them. If there is down time, take your athlete to do something fun (crafts, motor room, etc) When one-on-ones arrive Getting hold of host teacher ask when they want their student back Carry cell phone with you in case you need to get hold of athletes teacher Go sit down, orientation Get placed with teacher Wait for teachers name to be called at Walking on the left hand side of the track to get the athlete After you pick them up go on the right side of the track Go back to the seats listen to opening ceremony where they are dismissed to where the athletes name tag has them going to. Things to remember: If athlete is a swimmer, you take them to locker room (you do not have to help them change), and then just wait for them in the pool. After each event, make sure athlete gets ribbon. Phones- take pictures but BE RESPECTFUL. Do not take a selfie with your athlete if they don’t want to. Live the moment don’t be obsessed about getting an instagram pic for the day
