Year 4 Residential to Porthpean 10-12 May 2017

Facilities Meals take place in a dining hall. A prepared breakfast. Packed lunch ingredients including rolls, assorted fillings, crisps, cakes or biscuits and fruit. A prepared evening meal, including a vegetarian option, with a sweet, tea and coffee for adults, squash for younger group members. Children are expected to tidy their own plates, cutlery and tables after their meal.

Accommodation The children will share tents in groups of 6. The tents are situated in a “Village” with teacher accommodation in the same place. The school will have their own exclusive villages to use. The leader accommodation is situated next to the children's accommodation.

Staff 58 children are attending. Mr Whipps Mrs Keat Miss Coverson Mrs Halpin Mrs Hill Mrs Young Mr Fox/ Mr Bardot There will, of course, be lots of qualified instructors based at Porthpean for all our activities. The children who are not at Porthpean will have activities at school.

Cost The cost for the trip will be £150. This includes Transport Activities: Daytime AND evening Accommodation Food (Packed lunch needed for Wednesday) Special equipment and staffing

Kit List Beach Day Swimming kit Shorts or t-shirt to get wet (wet suits will be provided) Old shoes children don’t mind getting wet (no crocs, flip flops or Reefs. For the night time Sleeping bag and blanket Pillow & Pillow Case Night Clothes Towel Wash bag & Toiletries Teddy or mascot Torch For the day time (non-beach activities) Underwear Several pairs of warm socks T-shirts Trousers/tracksuits – not jeans Jumpers/sweat tops/fleeces Warm coat Waterproof jacket and trousers Walking boots or Wellington boots or pair of trainers (preferably old) The centre is mostly outdoors and the weather cannot always be relied on to behave! We ask that warm clothes as well as sun screen and sun hats be brought along with 2 black bin bags for wet and dirty clothes.

Medicines If your child needs any medicines please label with your child’s name and clear instructions for administering. Please hand in to Miss Coverson on the Wednesday morning of the trip. We will be sending a contact form along with permission to administer Calpol at the appropriate dose once we know final numbers for the trip.

Valuables It is not recommended to take any valuables. An inexpensive disposable camera can be taken but must be looked after by the children and no responsibility can be taken for these by the staff. DO NOT BRING: Pocket knives MP3 players Computer games Electronic devices Mobile phones Money A small amount of “midnight feast” food can be brought.

Emergency Contact If you need to get in touch with us in an emergency while we are away. please contact the school during the day or Mrs Preston out of school hours. They will be able to contact us whilst we are away. If for any reason any of the children need to come home from the visit, we would contact you via school during the day or on the emergency contact list after school hours. We will hope to put photos and information up each day via the school website to show how we are getting on whilst away. This is dependent on mobile phone.

Next steps Deposits due by 10th February and full balance by the 21st April. Once final numbers are confirmed we will send a contact and medical form to you to ensure we have the correct details for medication, contact and dietary requirements. A full kit list will go home 4 weeks before the trip.
