Welcome to Scholarship Night! 2016-2017

Local Scholarships (cont.)…. Many local scholarships are in the process of being updated. The majority of the local scholarships are due in March, April, and May. Don’t stress, you have time. The plan is to have them all updated on the website by Christmas break. Christmas Break and Spring Break are great times to work on these.

Where do I find these scholarships? Molalla High School Website! Counseling Office- there will be hard copies of all local scholarships available. There will also be a binder of all state scholarships we receive. You may make copies of these as needed. Aspire Office-there will be hard copies of all local scholarships available.

November is College Application Month! Counselors will be in computer lab every Tuesday and Thursday during homeroom to help students complete applications.

Four Year Universities All offer merit based scholarships. Financial need IS NOT considered. Combination of SAT/ ACT score and GPA. Scholarships are usually given for all four years. Check your school’s scholarship page to see if there are additional applications for scholarships.

How do I apply for these scholarships? Admission application is often also the scholarship application. Most schools have a scholarship page.Check for additional applications/ forms. Also check for departmental scholarships. Spend time on these essays! These are big money amounts.

Portland State Tuition Promise Covers full 4 years tuition and fees. Pell Grant Eligible GPA- 3.4 or higher Does NOT cover housing! Must apply for admission by May 1st. FAFSA completed by February 1st.

University of Oregon Pathway Covers full fours years tuition and fees Pell Grant Eligible GPA- 3.4 or higher Does not cover housing. Must apply for admission by January 15rh FAFSA completed by February 15th.

OSAC Scholarship- opens early November https://app. oregonstudentaid Two Sections: Scholarship Application and Oregon Promise Application. Scholarship application allows student to apply for up to 15 state scholarships with one application. Oregon Opportunity Grant- Financial need. Oregon Promise- GPA: 2.5 / Attending community college

OSAC Scholarship Continued… Ford Scholars (highly competitive, financial need, community service) Pays for 90% of all college expenses. Everett Hill Scholarship Holman Scholarship Foundation ($3000 a year for 4 years). Last year 10 were awarded to Molalla seniors.

More Ways To Save Money-Hurray!

Dual Enrollment Students attend community college and 4 year college at the same time. Last year, Oregon Promise covered all community college credits for dual enrollment. If not, student still only pays community college price for those classes OSU/ Linn Benton PSU/ CCC

Western Undergraduate Exchange Out of state colleges offer in-state tuition to Oregon residents. See full list of participating schools at www.wiche.edu/wue
