PSSA April 9-13 (ELA) April 16-20 (Math) Reading and Math Multiple choice and open-ended questions Teach children test-taking strategies. Look for practices and more information to be sent home in early 2017.

Very Important Person Each week a person will be nominated as the Very Important Person. We will let the person know a week ahead of time so they are prepared. They may hang their things and present on their given Monday will take their things home the following Friday. They can bring in photos and keepsakes that are special to them to present to the class. 2/21/2018

Snack/Recess Snack – We encourage healthy snacks. Only have about 10 minutes so should be something quick and easy. Re-usable water bottles (must seal tightly and go home each night) Only water (no juice) Recess is usually outside – students should dress for the weather 2/21/2018

Music Lessons / Recorder Students are responsible for the work they miss when they are out at music lessons. Students will not be allowed to call home for forgotten instruments Recorder will be used in music. Students are expected to have it each Monday and should practice at home. 2/21/2018

Birthday, Parties, & Invitations Students are welcome to bring in non-edible birthday treats to celebrate their birthdays. Pre-packaged, nut free items will be served at parties (Halloween, December, Valentine’s Day) Please do not bring birthday party invitations to school unless you plan to invite the entire class 2/21/2018

Absent Notes/ Tardiness Please send in absent notes when your child is absent (HCE Homepage) Hillcrest emphasizes promptness. Children should be in their seats, “Ready to learn” by 9:10. Parents should sign student in at the office if late. 2/21/2018

Communication Please register in HAC if you have not yet submitted your child’s updated demographic form. One for each child in the district. Mrs. Jones – Tate sends a weekly newsletter. Please read for important school information. 2/21/2018

Communication Please contact us anytime. Email is quick and easy. Please give us 24 hours to return emails and phone calls. Emergencies and late in the day dismissal changes should not be left on teacher voicemails or emails. Call the office and leave a message with them. Placards for car riders! 2/21/2018

A Message From the Nurse Message from the school nurse:  Please be sure to send the school nurse a copy of a dental exam for your child. This is a Pennsylvania State requirement and must be received for every third grader by the first day of school. Any exam dated after September 1, 2016 will be acceptable. Copies of the dental form are available on the Health Services section of Hillcrest Elementary’s website or in the health office.    2/21/2018
