Curriculum Math Common Core Math Curriculum to 20 Recognize and write numbers 0-20 Compose and Decompose numbers to 20 Count to 100 by 1’s and 10’s Count forward from a given number Recognize and create shapes Recognize groups that are greater than, less than and equal Sort, make patterns, analyze, and classify Interpret and solve addition and subtraction word problems within 10 Text Used: McGraw-Hill – My Math and teacher supplements

Self Management Skills Please help your child to master these skills: Opening/closing lunchbox (zippers) Opening/closing snack packages Tying shoes Buttoning/zipping pants Washing hands with soap and water Wiping nose with a tissue Also please review lunchroom and bathroom behavior expectations with your child.

Homework Students will begin homework in August. Homework will be sent home daily in their folders. Read to or listen to your child read for at least 15 minutes each evening. Guided reading books-may come home throughout the year if needed Please practice sight words, and math skills daily! Please practice their first and last name daily until they know it by heart.

Snack Calendar Available monthly on Konstella- Birthdays in BOLD Healthy, individually wrapped, and store bought snacks Everything must be NUT FREE and come from the approved list sent home each month Send enough for 22 students

Star Student Bag will be sent home Monday with Pride Lion, journal and directions Please make a poster with pictures, drawings, examples of important information about your child (family members, favorite things, etc.) and send it back to school sometime during the week. Your child will share this poster with the class during Morning Meeting. *Encourage your child to do as much of the poster as they can.* Please include a picture of Pride Lion with your child/family in the journal and write a little “blurb” about the activity/time together.

Communication!!! Weekly newsletter will be emailed and available on the website. It is filled with important information! The school-wide Patterson Post will also be emailed home.
