Project Management Institute (PMI®) A Nonprofit Global Organization Envisioned Goal “Worldwide, organizations will embrace, value and utilize project management and attribute their success to it.” PMI Global Operations Center Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, USA Regional Service Centers in Brussels, Belgium & Singapore Established in 1969 308,102 PMI members in more than 180 countries 253 chartered PMI Chapters 29 chartered Specific Interest Groups 2 formal areas of knowledge: Performance Management Scheduling PMI has a global membership. Chapters are geographically based and act as “franchises” of PMI, providing education and networking opportunities at a grassroots level. 40% of our growth is now outside North America. China and Europe Middle East Africa (EMEA) are emerging growth areas for project management. Global Region breakdown: 71% North America & the Caribbean - Of the 71% -- or almost 150 thousand -- that represents North American membership, 63% (130,178) is in the US 9% (18,082) is in Canada, and Less than 1% (27) is elsewhere on the continent, including the Caribbean. 15% Asia & the South Pacific 10% Europe Middle East Africa (EMEA) 4% Central & South America Specific Interest Groups, or SIGs, are designed to bring project management practitioners from similar industries or interests together in a virtual environment. If you are a member of PMI with a passion for one of the project management knowledge areas, or if you have a specific expertise, you may fit perfectly into one of PMI’s colleges. Like a SIG, a PMI college has no distinct geographical location. Instead, it brings together individuals who have developed a formal approach to one of the areas within A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide). These individuals are committed to furthering this knowledge and making it available to the profession. Through 30 November, 2009

Project Management Certification Five Certification Credentials: Program Management Professional (PgMPSM) Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM™) PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMPSM) PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SPSM) The PgMP credential is PMI’s first credential designed to demonstrate project and program management skills. To be eligible for the PgMP credential, you must meet specific guidelines that objectively measure experience, education and professional knowledge, and undergo a rigorous application process as well as three assessments. You also must agree to adhere to the PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. The CAPM or PMP credential are not prerequisites for the PgMP credential. Eligibility: • With a Bachelor’s Degree (or a global equivalent): Over the last 15 consecutive years, applicants must have at least four years of project management experience and four years of program management experience. • Without a Bachelor’s Degree (or a global equivalent): Over the last 15 consecutive years, applicants must have at least four years of project management experience and seven years of program management experience. The PgMP Assessments: • A comprehensive application process that includes a review of education by PMI staff and a review of professional work experience by a panel of program managers. •  A four-hour exam composed of 170 multiple-choice questions that measures your ability to apply knowledge, skills and techniques used in program management. The exam is developed by groups of individuals from around the globe who are program managers and is routinely reviewed and revised to ensure the best consistently objective assessment. •  A Multi-rater Assessment (MRA) in which you select a team of colleagues and peers to evaluate your performance as a program manager via a web-based survey. Individuals who attain a credential from PMI will be added to PMI’s Online Credential Registry and may immediately use the credential designation after their name. The PgMP Examination: The multiple-choice examination — developed by program managers from around the world —includes mostly scenario-based questions that test your understanding of the knowledge, skills and techniques used in program management. The examination is made up of 170 multiple-choice questions and will take approximately four hours to complete. It will be administered via computer-based testing globally. In areas of the world where computer-based testing does not exist, paper-based testing will be made available.
