Presentation transcript:

Percolating Art Work Objective: The Learner/Artists will physically produce an art work featuring the Louisiana Poverty Point Culture and use the Percolator App to create multiple versions of their work. Upon completion, they will reflect upon the differences between the original work and the Percolator images, writing their thoughts and then sharing with a table partner. After completing your art work work featuring the Louisiana Poverty Point Culture, carefully take a photo of it with the ipad camera at the easel station, set up in the art studio. Before working with Percolator, watch the video, https://vimeo.com/31242923. It’s short and quick. Watch for all the different change possibilities! Think of George Seurat’s artwork, Pointillism! Open Percolator App. Tap Choose a Photo (camera icon at bottom left). Tap Import/Photo Library. At Photos menu, select Camera Roll and find your photo. Tap your photo; it will automatically pop into Percolator, using the last effects selected previously. If you like it, you may save by tapping the heart icon in the bottom center of the screen. Then, tap Save to Photos. Now, use the tools at the bottom of the screen to transform your work, Grind, Brew, and Serve. Each of these items has a roller bar below it. Roll each on as you like and watch your image change. There is a small arrow at the right of the roller bars. If you tap, you’ll find many more effect options, Grind: Circles and Effect; Brew: Pic and Blends; Serve: Tone and Texture. Tap Re-grind whenever you want to change something; it’s at the far right above the roller bars. Your image changes while the Percolator App is “grinding beans, boiling water and percolating”. Tap the Coffee Cup button to continue to make changes. If you roll to Stirred under Serve, it will automatically transform your image with the new selections. Explore for a few minutes. If you find an image you like, refer to number 6 in this list for saving it. Once you have 3 saved percolated images, minimize the Percolator by tapping the “home” button on the ipad. Tap Photos and tap Select . Tap all of your photos, the original and 3 percolated images. A blue circle with a check mark will appear on each one. At the far left top, you’ll see the Send button, tap it. Then tap Mail icon to send your works by email to yourself. I will be copied in this email. In the subject line, type your name and grade, i.e. Isabella5. Now in the Camera Roll, view your works including the original, tapping each one to enlarge it. Write a list of differences using the elements of art and answer this question, “Has the message of your artwork changed with this Percolator App and how has it changed?” Write a complete paragraph with your findings. Share with your table partner.
