PRESENTATION OF FAITH STATEMENT Jessica Pittman

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) Forgiving God, how many times we have spoken words of commitment and faith, and then turned our backs on these

commitments to follow the temptations of the world commitments to follow the temptations of the world. We wander after the false gods of greed, selfishness, arrogance, music, social media.

We want you to come in and clean up all our messes, excusing us from any responsibility. Forgive us for such foolishness.

Help us remember the power of your healing love, which has been given for us. Forgive us when we think we know everything and then discover that we have

behaved and thought in ignorant ways behaved and thought in ignorant ways. Teach us to listen and to place our trust in your goodness.

(silence is observed for reflection and prayer)

ASSURANCE OF PARDON L: Hear the Good News: Christ is Risen! In the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we experience God’s love which truly has no bounds. In Christ we experience forgiveness and our

PROCLAIMING THE WORD SCRIPTURE READING: Jeremiah 29:4-7, 10-14

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat what they produce. Take wives and have sons and daughters;

take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease. But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile

and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare. For thus says the Lord: Only when Babylon’s seventy years are completed will I visit you,

and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.

Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me, says the Lord,

and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.

SCRIPTURE READING: Colossians 1:3-14

In our prayers for you we always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, because of the hope laid up for you in heaven.

You have heard of this hope before in the word of the truth, the gospel that has come to you. Just as it is bearing fruit and growing in the whole world, so it has been bearing fruit among yourselves from the day you heard it and

truly comprehended the grace of God truly comprehended the grace of God. This you learned from Epaphras, our beloved fellow-servant. He is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf, and he has made known to us your love in the Spirit.

For this reason, since the day we heard it, we have not ceased praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may lead lives worthy

of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, as you bear fruit in every good work and as you grow in the knowledge of God. May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorious power, and may you be prepared to

endure everything with patience, while joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us

into the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. L: This is the Word of the Lord. P: Thanks be to God!

*APOSTLES’ CREED I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven,

he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints,
