Central Jamaica Conference STRATEGIC PLAN 2014-2018

MISSION STATEMENT To proclaim the Everlasting Gospel by impacting communities and preparing people for Christ’s imminent return.

VISION STATEMENT To have every member transformed and anchored in the Body of Christ, in readiness for His imminent return.

Spiritual Growth and Unity Action Steps Conducted 9 Conventions in each Zone with emphasis on Lord Transform Me. Calling members to spiritual revival and renewed commitment to mission. Conducted 2-day Pastor’s Retreat for spiritual reflection, strategy and planning. Camp Meeting and Lay Institute 2016, under the theme, “Urgent! Earnest! United! In completing the mission!” Members were treated to solid Bible-based messages from Pastor Wilbert Wilkie and were empowered through special presentations by various Directors of the Conference.

Spiritual Growth and Unity Action Steps Established Prayer Room at the Conference Office. Prayer team conduct weekly prayer meetings Willowdene Group of Schools Administrators and Teachers conduct prayer and fasting session at the beginning of each school year. Administrators and Directors conducted Special Prayer Meeting at the Dover Church

Integrated Evangelism and Discipleship

Integrated Evangelism and Discipleship Action Steps Prepared and presented guideline for establishing each church as an evangelistic centre using Christ’s Method Established Deaf Church in Portmore with over 70 attendants. 9 Deaf persons have been baptized so far. Organized the Canaanites Church in a once volatile community Established 3 branch Sabbath Schools – 1. Gravel Hill; 2. Thompson Town; 3. Yorke Street Conducted 10 major tent evangelistic programmes and many other Church programmes.

Integrated Evangelism and Discipleship Action Steps Sponsorship of $5,000.00 per month to help pay a Bible Worker for several Pastoral Districts Total Baptisms: 2578 (2016); 1858, 56% of our goal for the year Operation Huldah by Women Ministry Department, Feb – March, 47 persons baptized Lay Preach-a-Thon programme during November 2016, baptized over 220 persons

Integrated Evangelism and Discipleship Action Steps Established Recreational Football League as an outreach ministry to young men. Baptized 3 young men as a result. Over 8,000 lessons distributed by Conference Bible School Continue to produce weekly for 4 radio programmes. Added Devotional Digest on NCU FM.

Integrated Evangelism and Discipleship Action Steps Created four new Districts: 1) Hellshire; 2) New Longsville; 3) James Hill and 4) Grove Town to facilitate greater pastoral supervision Convention was held at the district level across the Conference. The theme was “In His Image”. A total of 68 persons were baptized.

Youth Empowerment

Youth Empowerment Action Steps In its 3rd year running, OSAY 2017 had a record number of youth who effected 70 outreach projects this year. Over 4,000 youths of Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists participated in OPERATION SAVE A YOUTH (OSAY) which was hosted in the parish of St. Catherine on Sunday, March 19, 2017. 12 scholarships were also given valued at $50,000.00 each during OSAY 2017 Over 500 Campers attended a combined summer camp 2017

Youth Empowerment Action Steps The Adventist-owned and operated Willowdene Group of Schools took gold and silver at JCDC Children Gospel finals 2017. For one day in November selected youth leaders were given the opportunity to oversee the Conference by shadowing Administrators and Directors CJC youth represented Jamaica Union at IAD Bible Bowl: Shamela Martin of the Dover Church. Youth Socials were conducted after Conventions where possible

Youth Empowerment Action Steps Approximately 112 churches conducted Vacation Bible Schools during the months of July and August. The attendance for some churches was commendable where over 100 children attended namely – Porus, Oliver Gardens, Newlands, and Clear Park.

Stewardship and Development

Stewardship and Development Action Steps Conducted stewardship seminars, workshops and rallies in Conference. Continued work on updating land registry at the Conference Office and working with local churches to formalize land ownership WHEEL programme collected 8M+ so far.

Stewardship and Development Action Steps The new multipurpose Auditorium of the Willowdene Group of Schools was officially opened and dedicated on Sunday July 2, 2017, during the graduation exercise for the High School division. The auditorium was dedicated in honor of the late Pastor Benjamin McKenzie, (Pastor O.B. McKenzie) Went live with Online Giving Platform through which persons locally and overseas can made donations and return tithes and offering using their Credit/Debit Cards 9% increase in tithes and offerings so far.

Education and Training

Education and Training Action Steps Conducted 3 parish-wide Local Church Officers’ training Provide resource material for download on Conference website by each department Conference-wide Communication Workshop for Pastors and Local Church Communication Secretaries Community Services Workshop by General Conference Leaders

Education and Training Action Steps H.S. Walters Health Summit and Lecture Series saw over 400 persons in attendance and 80 registered for certification. Both Willowdene Group of Schools and Campbell’s Castle Preparatory have seen increase in enrolment. Conducted conference-wide sign language classes. 60 persons registered

Quality of Life and Community Impact

Quality of Life and Community Impact Action Steps Back to school Initiatives across the Conference at a cost of $1.5 Million dollars. Operation Huldah Health Clinics CJC was integral in recovery operations during flooding in Clarendon. Distributed 50 mattresses, food packages and participated in cleanup activities. H.S. Walters Health Clinic sees an average of 700 persons each month. Offers both dental and medical services.

Quality of Life and Community Impact Action Steps Women Ministry Department partnered with Jamaica Union to conduct successful EndItNow march in Portmore, St. Catherine A partnership forged between the US-based, House of Blessing Lifestyle Centre and the Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, resulted in a ground breaking ceremony  for the construction of a 20-room Five Star Lifestyle Centre on the grounds of the Adventist-owned site at Camp Verley  in Spring Gardens, St. Catherine on December 22, 2016.

Quality of Life and Community Impact Action Steps For Phase II of Operation Huldah, the Women’s Ministries Departments of the Greater New York Conference and the Central Jamaica Conference collaborated in carrying out various activities such as Humanitarian Efforts, Health Clinic, Health Fair, and Vacation Bible School at the following locations: Health Fair - Thompson Town, Sunday, July 23, Medical Services - Hunt’s Pen – Monday, July 24 Medical Services- Palmer’s Cross – Tuesday – July 25 Medical Services – Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation – Thursday, July 27 Health Clinic - Middlesex International College (May Pen) – Friday, July 28
