The first item in your pack is a weekly timetable The first item in your pack is a weekly timetable. It’s flexible; Gives you a head start when you ask the children “what did you do at school today?” You will see our Hall time (PE), Library day, ICT Suite time is marked on there. whole class teaching and discussions/circle times. Other times are for independent, small group and one:one work Foundation subjects over the week. PPA Wednesday – covered by Mrs New and Mrs Pekszyc We try to be very relaxed and make it as fun and exciting as we can! Try to fit in lots of trips and visits outside of school. Each term we will send you a new overview. Weekly Timetable & Autumn Term Overview Context For Learning: Italian Adventure!

Children need to bring in 50p for a new one. Reading Every child is heard at least once a week Focused reading session every day Rotation of activities across the week which include: Group Reading, Group writing, Literacy Handbooks, Individual Quiet Reading and Reading Comprehension Home Readers Our aim is to sustain the children’s interest in reading It is still important that children read everyday Please return yellow Reading Record everyday and ensure the reading book is in their book bag so they can change it or continue reading it at school Short comments appreciated by you or your child Home school contact – preferably not in here! We record how often home readers are changed and encourage independence in choosing a variety of books Lost Home Reader Book? Children need to bring in 50p for a new one. Our aim is… Individually – write in Yellow Reading Record book if read to an adult that day. Group reading (small groups of similar ability share the same book) encourages discussion and improves comprehension skills. The children support and encourage each other. Reading at home is all about sharing books and modelling how to read. Feel free to write in Yellow books. Structured colour levels but not a single scheme. Not all identical within a colour level. Don’t have to change everyday…read together one night, practise some words the next etc.

Library Once a week on a Tuesday Enjoy and discuss books at home In addition to home reader Take home a number game or talking story as an alternative

PE Kits to be left at school Tuesday and Wednesday (Mrs Pekszyc) No earrings or other jewellery Long hair tied back, no hard head bands (spare hair bands) Shorts and T-shirt for indoor PE (e.g. Dance and Gymnastics) Spare socks, jumper, jogging bottoms and trainers for outdoor activities (e.g. Games and Athletics) We do not loan out PE kit. Please inform class teacher with a brief letter or note Walking Home (only in Summer term) Written parental consent must be given to allow children to walk home alone in preparation for middle school A letter, with a consent form, will be sent home just before the summer term

Enrichment Afternoon - changes It is now PE, Handwriting and French. Mrs New and Mrs Pekszyc take the sessions. We stay in classes and it is curriculum based, rather than a rota of activities 9

Learning at Home Generally, to be set and handed in every other Friday Children will need a ring binder with plastic wallets to file their work Learning at Home sheet will be uploaded onto the Learning Platform plus any useful websites or resources Work will be displayed in the classroom and children are given the opportunity to share their work. This is usually on the Friday when the work is due in. Spellings will be listed on Learning at Home sheets. Please practice these as they are words that the children should be able to spell in order to reach the age related expectations for Writing.

Learning at Home Variety of tasks to choose from (It is not necessary to do every single one!) Displayed in the classroom. We will be monitoring who brings homework in. As part of the Home-School agreement, this is obligatory. Mornings can be a bit hectic. If you need to speak to me please come and see me at the end of the day, or write a note in the yellow home readers…we read them everyday! Water bottle. Water filled during the day. 11
