Introduction to Microsoft Access

DBMS It arranges all your data in an orderly manner so that you can retrieve information easily. It is like keeping files in a drawer or a cupboard.

What is a Database? It is an organised collection of data. It arranges information in such a way that any specific piece of information can be easily accessed.

Why Database is needed? Every organization maintains data about its business, its employees, and other relevant information. For example: student’s details, their academic and co-curricular achievements, and the details of a teachers and administrative staff. This all needs to be easily available whenever it is required.

It should be possible to retrieve any piece of information from it at any time. It needs to be updated regularly. For all such sort of work you need to convert this data in database.

Elements of a Database Hierarchical Network Relational Object-oriented

Of these, the Relational database model is the most popular Of these, the Relational database model is the most popular. A Relational database stores data in the form of tables. The table organizes data in rows is called Records and columns called fields. Records and Fields together make up the Table. Each record defines information about one entity and gives complete detail s about it. Each Field defines information of a certain type for all records.

DBMS Stands for Data Base Management System. It involves creating , modifying , deleting , and adding data to the database. The software that performs these functions is called DBMS. Examples For DBMS : Microsoft Access , MySQL , Oracle.
