NATIONAL FLOWER Indian Lotus Lotus is a sacred flower and occupies a unique position in the art and mythology of ancient India and has been an auspicious symbol of Indian culture.

NATIONAL FRUIT MANGO India is home for more than hundred varieties of mangoes.

RIVER GANGA NATIONAL RIVER It is the longest river in India. The river is revered by Hindus as the most sacred river on earth.

NATIONAL TREE INDIAN BANYAN TREE Indian banyan root themselves to form new trees and grow over large areas. Because of this characteristic and its longevity, this tree is considered immortal and is an integral part of the myths and legends of India

India is our neighbor since ancient time India is our neighbor since ancient time. India's first major civilization flourished around 2500 BC in the Indus river valley. This civilization, which lasted for 1000 years, and is known as the Harappa culture, appears to have been the culmination of thousands of years of settlement.

Astonishing mingling

Amongst the world's oldest, richest and most diverse cultures, India represents an amazing confluence of different creeds, religions, faiths and belief systems, further divided among castes, sects and sub-sects.

Festivals

Diwali or Deepawali The festival of lights. Rama, the central figure in the epic Ramayana. Sri Lankans also celebrate this festival. Dussehra The battle between Ravana and Rama and the latter's victory are celebrated as Dussehra in many parts of India, 20 days before Deepawali.

In Bengal, the worship of the Goddess Durga precedes Deepawali In Bengal, the worship of the Goddess Durga precedes Deepawali. While Goddess Durga is worshipped with great devotion in West Bengal, Lord Ganesha - acknowledged as the remover of obstacles - is the central figure in the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi in Maharashtra.

Holi, the festivals of colors when men, women and children drench one another with colored water to celebrate the beauty of spring season, when flowers bloom and deck the earth.

Men Dhoti and Kurta is supposed to be the native Indian dress for men. Dhoti is a piece of cloth, which is tied at the waist, and one part of it is passed between the legs and is tucked at the back, whereas Kurta is a type of an Indian tunic. In Southern India, men mostly wear Shirt and Lungi.
