UOPs and the Principles of Learning

Planning your Unit of Practice Components As you progress through Maestro training you will create a Unit of Practice, student product samples, criteria charts and rubrics. The goal is to enhance student learning through the integration of computer technology.

Keep in mind the Principles of Learning as you plan your UOP : What do we want students to know and be able to do? How do we ensure rigorous student learning? What is the evidence that students have learned what we want them to know and be able to do?

What do we want students to know and be able to do? Which curricular areas will your UOP cover? What are the student learning expectations for your UOP? How will technology be integrated into the unit? TEKS

How do we ensure rigorous student learning? How will you make expectations clear? How will you facilitate talk among students about their learning? Clear Expectations aligned with the TEKS. Use criteria charts that are developed with learner input.

How will you monitor and assess student learning? What is the evidence that students have learned what we want them to know and be able to do? How will you monitor and assess student learning? What will you do if students have not mastered the learning objectives? Monitor to check for understanding. Reteach?
