Mrs. Hake’s Friday, march 3rd edition CLASSROOM 2016-2017 news Sneak Peak Week in Review: at Next Week Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss (March 2nd)! This week we had so much fun reading Dr. Seuss and rhyming books. Throughout the week, at our science center, we matched baby animals with their parents and painted Thing 1 and Thing 2 at art center. Cat in the Hat day was filled with many rhyming activities with cats and hats. We read There’s a Wocket in My Pocket and created our own silly rhyming word to make a class book. Would you believe we went fishing in our classrooms! We fished for rainbow words. We read Green Eggs and Ham and made strange colored food just like Dr. Seuss would like! Tues. Fun Activity to practice at home! Collect items in the house and put them in a paper bag. Pull them out one at a time and tap them out to hear the beginning, middle, and ending sounds. Try to pull the word out of your mouth and write it on paper. You could even try to write a sentence or story about it. You can vary this game to use for rhyming. *Rhyming Words- have your child say or write some rhyming words. Try having your child find rhyming pairs in Dr. Seuss stories or items that rhyme in their room. *Practice rainbow words! *Keep counting to 100 by 1’s, 5’s and 10’s. *Review writing numbers 0-20 in order. Identify the numbers on flash cards. * Spy and draw shapes. *Check out some Dr. Seuss books at the library, read easy ones like (Hop on Pop, Go Dog Go, The Foot Book…) *Keep Reading! Rainbow WORDS Trace, cut, practice: out five blue
