What is an infographic?

Infographics are a visual representation of data / research. Information graphics or infographics are graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge intended to present information quickly and clearly. They can improve cognition by utilizing graphics to enhance a person’s ability to see patterns and trends.

What is included in an infographic? It communicates a message in an engaging way. It presents large amounts of data meaningfully. Reveal hidden data for the viewer.

Remember to only include relevant information!! What is included in an Infographic? Design/Layout Objects/Photos Theme Graphs (pie, bar graphs, etc..) Key Info (facts, statistics, etc…) Base Color Navigational Icons (arrows pointing in a direction)   Content Title (A unique title stating what the infographic is about.) Research component includes: Facts Dates Statistics Sections Citations Story A story ties together the layout and content. Every infographic conveys a central message to the audience. Remember to only include relevant information!!

NOT Infographics are not PPT slides of text. They are not posters of random information.

Summary Keep it Simple. Decide on a color scheme. Research some great facts and stats using authoritative sources. Make complex data easy to understand. Draw conclusions. Cite sources.
