Info about Sea turtle Turtles that live in the ocean are called seaturtles. Different types of sea turtles can be found through out the world and in every ocean except for the Arctic Ocean, which is too cold. Generally, sea turtles prefer warm seas and stay in shallow coastal areas like lagoon sand bays, but they are sometimes found in deeper ocean waters as well. These animals are well-adapted to the ocean but they need air to survive. Sea turtles come in all different sizes. The largest is the leather back which can grow up to 6 feet long and weigh well over 1,000 pounds! Sea turtles live in almost every ocean basin in world, but They are nesting on tropical and subtropical beaches. They migrate long distances to feed, often crossing entire oceans.

. They spend their entire lives at sea, except when adult females come a shore to lay eggs several times per season every 2 to 5 years. After about sixty days, baby seaturtles (known as "hatchlings") emerge from their sandy nests and make their way to the ocean —attracted to the distant horizon. The baby sea turtles spend their first few years in the open oceans, sometimes moving to protected bays and other near shore waters as adults. Sea turtles typically feed on jellyfish, sponge and other soft-bodied organisms. Some species of sea turtle with stronger jaws have been observed to eat shellfish, while some species, such as the green sea turtle, do not eat any meat at all and, instead, have a diet largely made up of algae.

Turtles Caretta caretta have the widest range of occurrence Turtles Caretta caretta have the widest range of occurrence. This gives them a good chance of survival. Most spend their lives in the waters of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The world's largest number of Caretta caretta nests recorded on the coast of Florida and is about 70,000 nests per year. The next popular places are the beaches of Oman, Western Australia, Japan, Colombia, Madagascar, the island Yakushimy and Europe's beaches and islands of Greece (most on Zakynthos) and Turkey and the beaches of Cyprus.

Fun Facts About Sea turtles *Leather back sea turtles have been known to dive over 1000 feet deep in the ocean. *Sea turtles don't need a supply of freshwater. They can live off of the water they get from theirfood. *Sea turtles sometimes look like they are crying. These tears are from special glands that allow them to get rid of extra salt they get by living in salt water oceans. *The fastest turtles are the leather backs which have been known to swim at speeds of over 20 miles per hour. *From leather back stologgerheads, six of the seven species of sea turtles are threatenedor endangered at the hand of humans. *Every baby sea turtle comes to beach which are born for leaving their eggs.It is so interesting how they find their way to the place that they were born. *When the baby turtles comeout eggs, they try to reach the sea.If they see any other light on the beach such as light of houses or fire, they miss their way and they arent able to reach the sea.So the beaches which sea turtles leave eggs are protected and It is not allowed to enter the beaches at night incase they are afraid of noise etc.

The Giant Tortoises of Galapagos The giant tortoises of Galapagos are among the most famous of the unique fauna of the Islands. While giant tortoises once thrived on most of the continents of the world, the Galapagos tortoises now represent one of the remaining two groups of giant tortoises in the entire world — the other group living on Aldabra Atoll in the Indian Ocean. The Galapagos Islands were named for their giant tortoises; the old Spanish word galapago meant saddle, a term early explorers used for the tortoises due to the shape of their shells. Compared to humans, giant tortoises might deserve to be called “lazy,” spending an average of 16 hours a day resting. Their activity level is driven by ambient temperature and food availability. In the cool season, they are active at midday, sleeping in the morning and hitting the sack early in the afternoon. In the hot season, their active period is early morning and late afternoon, while midday finds them resting and trying to keep cool under the shade of a bush or half-submerged in muddy wallows. Galapagos tortoises are herbivorous, feeding primarily on cactus pads, grasses, and native fruit. They drink large quantities of water when available that they can store in their bladders for long periods of time.

Interview with Sea Turtle - -Hello Mrs.Seaturtle..Welcome to our interview for our Project ‘Reading Creates Imagination Hello childeren.Im happy to be with you in this Project -Can we ask some questions to you? We want to learn more about you… Of course -Where do you usually live? We usually prefer warm seas and stay in shallow coastal areas like lagoons and bays, but we are sometimes found in deeper ocean waters as well.

-Can you tell us your Physical appereance? We have been on Earth for more than 100 million years. We are generally huge sea animals. We are from the animal class of reptile. This means we are cold-blooded, have scaly skin, breathe air, and lay eggs.Like other turtles, we have a hard shell . We have flippers that enable us to swim well. -What do you like eating? We like eating sea grass, seaweed, crabs, jellyfish, and shrimp. -Where do you make your home? We are usually in the open oceans, sometimes w ego to protected bays and other nearshore waters. -What do you use for building your house? When It is time to go,we find the beaches that we were born. After we reach the beach,we dig the sand and leave our eggs there. -Do you live alone? Yes,we live alone and hunt alone too.We dont live in pack. -How do you feed your babies? We dont feed our babies, when they hatch the eggs, they find their own way to the sea by the help of the moonlight and noise of wave.

-What is the most interesting fact about you? Before we leave our eggs,we return back to beaches that we were born whereever we arein the ocean. -Do you know any interesting belief about you? Yes,We are ancient creatures that we have been on the World more than 100 millions years. -What should we do for you and your babies? You should help us by protecting our habitants..We live in the sea so please dont pollute the sea and beaches too.And also please dont avoid any light on the beach because when baby turtles hatch they follow the moonlight. If they see humanmade lightithey can lose their way to the sea. -Thank you so much for the interview. You’re Welcome kids.
