Martin Luther King Jr. By: Julia Gelman

Early Life Born: January 15, 1929 Born in: Atlanta Georgia Parents: Mom- Alberta Williams King Dad- Martin Luther King Sr. He did many activities: piano lessons, baseball and football. He attended about five schools in his life. Instead of finishing high school, he went to college in his junior year of high school. As a young kid, he was a paperboy.

Character Traits Martin Luther King Jr. Showed leadership, bravery, and fairness. Leadership-- He fought for what was right and ended segregation. He boycotted the bus because African-Americans were forced to sit in the back of the bus. Bravery-- He stood up to his race. He was not afraid to stand up for equal rights. He showed people how wrong segregation was in his "I Have a Dream" speech. Fairness-- He was against people being segregated for any reason and wanted to make a change. He made his "I Have a Dream" speech to let people know how he feels. It takes courage to do that.

I Have a Dream! The meaning of his speech was to show people why he is against segregation and how wrong it is. In his speech he said: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation  where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." He also said: " I have a dream that one day in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification, ---one day right her in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers." He said: "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.

Lessons Learned A lesson that can be learned from Martin Luther King Jr.'s life is to never judge people by the way they look. It only matters of how they act. A lesson that can be learned from Martin Luther King Jr.'s death is to not harm people by the way they look. The person who assassinated Martin Luther King Jr.probably regrets it. It only matters what is on the inside, not the outside.
