Density is defined as the mass in unit of volume.

Piece of iron has mass 395 gram. Find it’s volume

Find the volume of 24 tons of cement (d=3000 kg/m3)

Answer : 8 m3

A tank of 0,5 m3 is filled with a liquid of 460 kg. Density of liquid=?

Answer : 920 kg/m3

Oil can contain 20L of oil. Density of oil=0,9 g/cm3. How many g of oil?

A bottle has a mass of 70 g when it’s empty A bottle has a mass of 70 g when it’s empty. When it’s full of water it’s mass is 90 g. When it’s full of LIQUID it’s mass is 96 g. What is the density of LIQUID ?

Answer: 1,3 g/ cm3

Calculate mass of air in a room with dimensions 3m, 6m,8m d (air)=1,3 kg/m3

Density of mixture

1,6 kg of alcohol and 2 kg of water are mixed. Find density of mixture. D(alcohol)=0,8 g/cm3.

Answer 0,9 g/cm3.

Example Cubic container with side 10 cm is half filled with water. And the rest of cube is filled with other liquid. Total mass is 900 g. Calculate density of mixture. And density of unknown liquid.

Answer D(mix)=0,9 g/cm3 D(liq)=0,8 g/cm3
