Who Wrote the New Testament? What Was Their Whole Purpose?
John 20:30-31 “Many other signs therefore Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.”
1 John 1:1-3 “What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we beheld and our hands handled, concerning the Word of Life — and the life was manifested, and we have seen and bear witness and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us — 3 what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, that you also may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.”
Today We Are Told They Wrote With a Different Purpose Some Believe the NT Was Written By the Apostles and Prophets (Eph. 2:11), But Others Believe It Was Written by Later Authors. Many Believe The Authors Were Writing Myths and Legends to Add Power to Their Cause. Most Believe That a Large Part of the NT Is Not True.
Luke 1:1-4 1 “Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile an account of the things accomplished among us, 2 just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word have handed them down to us…
Luke 1:1-4 3 it seemed fitting for me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in consecutive order, most excellent Theophilus; 4 so that you might know the exact truth about the things you have been taught.”
2 Pet 1:16 “For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.”
Myths 1 Tim 1:2-3 2 Tim 4:3-4 Titus 1:13-14 Matt 28:11-15 John 21:21-25
