QA The Ahlul Bayt (as) in the Holy Qur`an

QA Lesson 16 LO: To understand the concept of Me’raj in Sura Najm Starter: How many verses do you think there are in the Holy Quran? Answer:6236

How much do you remember about Me’raj? QA Me’raj Quick Quiz How much do you remember about Me’raj? On a scrap sheet of paper, for each question write down which answer you think is correct (a, b, c, or d) You can divide the class into groups or have them compete individually raising their hand with the correct answer.

Welcome to Who Wants to be a Muslimaire 50:50 Welcome to Who Wants to be a Muslimaire 5 £1,000 4 £500 3 £300 2 £200 >>>>> YOU MAY NEED TO SCROLL DOWN TO READ ALL NOTES: <<<<< Once the slide components have all appeared, the slide stays static because this is the best place to explain the rules to the class … especially to anyone who have never seen the television program. If 50:50 is chosen then the teacher can tell the pupil two answers that are NOT correct. If phone a friend is requested then the teacher could choose one member of the class at random to be the ‘friend’. This (hopefully) should encourage all pupils to pay attention because they may well be chosen. If ask the audience is chosen then the class opinion could be asked for (by show of hands) … hopefully this will encourage other pupils to remain equally attentive. ## This slide does NOT move on automatically ## 1 £100

What is the date in which Me’raj took place? 5 £1,000 4 £500 3 £300 B: 2 £200 1 £100 50:50 >>>>> SCROLL DOWN HERE because many instructions are in these notes <<<<< The first question is added to this slide by replacing the text which says ‘Enter £100 Question’. Four answers are chosen and placed into the ABCD boxes, replacing the words ‘Answer 1’, ‘Answer 2’ etc. The game is more challenging if answers are chosen which are fairly close to the correct answer, thereby attempting to ensure that the pupil has understood the topic rather than simply guessing. However it does of course depend entirely upon the (ability etc of the) intended audience. The same process is carried out throughout the entire quiz. When all four possible answers have appeared, then the mouse can be clicked and the ‘thinking sound’ will be heard whilst the pupil makes up his/her mind as to the correct answer. If the pupil makes an attempt at an answer (and if they are ‘certain’!!!) then another mouse click will reveal the correct answer. Hence care has to be taken with the mouse clicks otherwise the answer could accidentally be revealed too early! If the pupil needs to ask a friend or whatever, then the thinking music can be paused by pressing the backwards arrow on the keyboard. The sound can be resumed by pressing the forwards arrow (or mouse etc as usual). Hence, for this game it may be easier to ignore the mouse and simply use the forward/backward arrow keys to move through the game. A: 13th of Rajab B: 27th of Rajab C: 15th Shabaan D: 2nd of Shabaan

Surah Najm Verses 6-18 6. The Most Powerful Lord Who conquered all. 7. While he was in the higher horizon. 8. Then he approached and came closer, 9. And was at a distance of two bows length or closer. 10. Therefore, [Allah] revealed unto His servant whatever He revealed. 11. The [Prophet's] heart lied not in what he saw. 12. Will you then dispute with him about what he saw? 13. And indeed he saw him at another descent. 14. Near Sidrat al-Muntaha. 15. Near it is the Paradise of Refuge. 16. When that covered the lote tree which did cover it! 17. The sight turned not aside nor did it transgress beyond the limit. 18. Verily, he did see of the Greatest Signs of his Lord. In pairs, read the translation and discuss how these verses relate to Me’raj.

6. The Most Powerful Lord Who conquered all. 7 6. The Most Powerful Lord Who conquered all.  7. While he was in the higher horizon. 8. Then he approached and came closer, 9. And was at a distance of two bows length or closer. These verses refer to the Prophet reaching the peak of his spiritual proximity to Allah (swt) during Me’raj such that he was ‘the measure of two bows or closer’ (verse 9) in spiritual closeness to Allah (swt) Note: Discuss whether Allah meant this literally or not

"Then He revealed unto His servant what He revealed," 10. Therefore, [Allah] revealed unto His servant whatever He revealed. 11. The [Prophet's] heart lied not in what he saw. "Then He revealed unto His servant what He revealed," When asked about this verse the Holy Prophet (S) replied: "It was revealed unto me that ‘Ali (as) is the master of the believers, the Imam of the God fearing, the most brilliant of the honorable, and the first successor to the Seal of the Prophets (S).” How does this relate to the topic of wilayah that we discussed when studying Surah Nabaa?

Sidratil Muntaha  12. Will you then dispute with him about what he saw? 13. And indeed he saw him at another descent. 14. Near Sidrat al-Muntaha. 15. Near it is the Paradise of Refuge. Sidrat al-Muntaha is the name of a place close to Paradise with never ending favours. According to traditions, the Noble Prophet of Islam (S) was the only one who reached it. According to traditions, Sidrat al-Muntaha is applied to the last state of the ascent of angels. What does this indicate about the high status of the Prophet (S)?

16. When that covered the lote tree which did cover it. 17 16. When that covered the lote tree which did cover it! 17. The sight turned not aside nor did it transgress beyond the limit. 18. Verily, he did see of the Greatest Signs of his Lord. Sidrat al-Muntaha is covered by a halo of light, beauty, and purity such that it is indescribable. It is said that a large number of angels cover the tree. It is narrated from the Noble Prophet that he had seen an angel standing on each leaf of Sidrat al-Muntaha glorifying God Almighty. The blessed Verse is saying that the Noble Prophet (S) saw Angel Jibraeel by its original form on the Night of Ascent when the lote tree was covered by a large number of creatures reflecting Divine Greatness and Magnificence.
