What will make my student succeed?
Necessary Work Ethic Consistent homework “Can do” Attitude Desire to learn independently Know when to seek help Desire to tackle long or difficult problems Willingness to take risks Check answers!!!
Homework The completion of quality homework every day is essential in the study of mathematics!
Textbooks Students will receive a textbook Online resource information will be relayed by the teacher. Online textbook tutorial (Mr. Kelterborn)
Main Sources for Studying Class notes Completed and corrected homework assignments Textbook lessons Quizzes and tests
Steps In Studying Organize all notes and make sure they are complete. Select sample problems and complete them. Check answers and isolate errors. Study in advance and ask for help before it is too late.
Hints For Studying Keep up with daily assignments. Pay attention in class. Correct work daily. Listen, ask questions, and ask for help when the process is not understood. Show all work. Make a list of mathematical vocabulary. Be familiar with necessary calculator steps.
Calculator Usage Calculator usage should follow the guidelines of the classroom teacher. All math students will need access to a graphing calculator. We strongly recommend the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition. Calculator use on cell phones is prohibited during assessments.
Technology Technology usage should follow the guidelines of the classroom teacher. All math students should have access to a personal device. We recommend an iPad but other tablets and devices are acceptable.
Tutoring and Extra Help All Walton Mathematics teachers are available to help students outside of the regular class at announced times and on WEBs. Additional tutoring is also available through the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honors Society)
Math test days are Mondays and Thursdays!
Other Hints Homework calendars available to students at the beginning of each unit—can be accessed on the course Edmodo page Open House, Wednesday, 8/16/17 ParentVue to access student grades Math Team is available for students who wish to compete in the area of mathematics. See Mrs. Speer in 347
