Course history and development: 1950: Originally the course was the MSc in Public Health Engineering (run association with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) 1960s: Close links form with MSc in Engineering Hydrology at Imperial 1980s: Greater emphasis on waste management and air pollution 1989: MSc Public Health Engineering becomes MSc Environmental Engineering 2003: Options in Sustainable Development and Business Management added Now Offer: MSc Environmental Engineering MSc Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development MSc Environmental Engineering and Business Management © Imperial College London

May - September: Major Research Project (4 months full-time study): Examples of recent project titles: ▪ Life cycle analysis of wastewater treatment technologies ▪ Assessment of water efficiency in large buildings ▪ Beneficial reuse of fine particulate material generated by waste recycling ▪ Improving healthcare waste management in a major London hospital ▪ In-sewer processes – wastewater transformations and the fate of bromates ▪ Removal of endocrine disruptor compounds in wastewater treatment ▪ Development of a waste management plan for Cyprus Students need to pass all three components (exams, coursework and project) to be awarded the MSc © Imperial College London
