Our Journey In the beginning Where we are now Future plans

In the beginning……. Broadband Installation/ WiFi access for Newcastle Tenants In 2015 Newcastle City Council (NCC) and Your Homes Newcastle (YHN) worked together to install broadband to tenants living in YHN managed properties.

In the beginning……. Free WiFi, Go Digital, is now accessible in the communal areas of All Sheltered & Supported Living Accommodation Tower Blocks Community Venues (Libraries, Community Centres & the City Centre)

Tenant Engagement Activities In the beginning……. Tenant Engagement Activities Recruitment of Digital Champions World War ll Online Quiz Parties Pop Music Online Quiz Parties One to One or Group training offers Total number of tenants introduced to WiFi = 340

Working in Partnership In the beginning……. Working in Partnership Funding from the Tinder Foundation was secured by Newcastle City Library to support the delivery of free basic computer training to Newcastle City residents. The computer training was offered to YHN tenants to help them use their free WiFi in a broader context. Travel costs

Working in Partnership Where we are now ……. Working in Partnership The basic training was delivered at Newcastle City Library and became so popular with customers that it was made accessible to all residents of Newcastle, customers are also referred from agencies such as Places for People, Remploy, Igneous and JCP+. The course is delivered over 2 sessions every Thursday morning with the support of Digital Champion volunteers. 287 residents have completed the Learn My Way, Online Basic course. Where we are now ……. Current Digital Champions – 15 (10 tenants and 5 non tenants) Number of hours given by Digital Champions since May 15 nearly 2000 Number of people engaged through all activities – over 1000 Number of Get Online Champions trained - 67 from 30 third sector organisations

In the future ……. Needs identified Internet Taster sessions Universal Credit Application sessions Get Online Champion Training Techy Tea Parties New Financial Inclusion courses These courses are now available for customers to book online and have been scheduled to run up until Sept 2017
