Russian Revolution

By 1917 Russians are beginning to get restless about the Tsar’s mistakes, including: Peasants are in poverty. Tsar does nothing (Tsar is very wealthy) Giorgio Rasputin hired by Tsar’s family (healer and trusted advisor). Most Russians think he is crazy. Russians don’t like being in WWI. It caused food shortages, fear of death for those by borders, and massive amounts of casualties.

In February of 1917… …soldiers, peasants and other Russian citizens rioted in the street. They forced Tsar Nicholas II to step down.

By October, many are still not happy with the transitional government. Vladimir Lenin and others revolt against the new government. Lenin and his followers believe that Communism in the best way to rule Russia. They begin a Civil War in order to gain full control of the country. To focus more on the home struggles, Russia signs a treaty with Germany, ending the fight on the Eastern Front.
