Our expectations We expect a high standard of behaviour/manners. 5 Classroom Rules (sharing, listening, kind & careful hands and feet, good manners and hands up) Traffic Light. Stickers, Certificates, Raffle tickets, star of the day, star writers. Increased independence.

Literacy Writing To reach the ELG they must be able to.. Use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds. They write simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others. Some words are spelt correctly and others are phonetically plausible. We will begin with the simple segmenting & blending of words then look at captions and sentences before trying more creative writing later on in the year. Reading To reach the ELG they must be able to… Read and understand simple sentences. Use phonic knowledge accurately to decode regular and read them allowed accurately. They read common irregular words (tricky words) Demonstrate understanding when talking with others about what they have read (comprehension) Please see reading prompt books

Planning and Assessment We plan using Foundation Stage Curriculum. There are 17 Early Learning Goals that your child is assessed against. More details throughout the year. We carry out both informal and formal assessments. Each child has an online Learning Journey that you can contribute towards (WOW Stars in ‘My World’ books).
