Acids react with alkaline solutions to form a salt and water Neutralisation Acids react with alkaline solutions to form a salt and water Hydrochloric acid produces chlorides Nitric acid produces nitrates Sulphuric acid produces sulphates Ammonia can dissolve in water to produce an alkaline solution.
