LIFE CYCLE OF FROG By Chichu

How a frog starts out as an egg and ends up as a frog? HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED??? How a frog starts out as an egg and ends up as a frog?

Like humans, frogs undergo life changes life changes Like humans, frogs undergo life changes life changes. They begin as eggs but become frogs. This does not happen overnight. There are four main stages in the frog’s life cycle.

Stage 1 EGGS – If you look in a pond in the spring, you might see a mass of soft, jelly-coated eggs that stick to plants in the water. The eggs soon hatch into tiny tadpoles.

Stage 2 TADPOLE – The tadpoles are like fish – they swim in the water and have gills, which allow them to breathe in the water. They have a long tail. The tadpoles grow quickly, swimming around and eating algae or tiny organisms in the water.

STAGE 3 FROGLET – Before long, legs sprout from the tadpole’s body and its tail becomes smaller. The tail is actually absorbed into the body! Lungs develop which allow it to breathe out of water.

STAGE 4 ADULT FROG – Eleven weeks after the eggs are laid, a fully developed frog with lungs, legs and no tail emerges from the water. It lives mostly on land, with occasional swims. It eats insects and worms.

This amazing change from a tadpole to a frog is called metamorphosis.
