UCSF Children’s Hospital Collaborators Space in Medicine UAS UCSF Children’s Hospital Planetary Society

Our Goals Design a curriculum adapted for children at local hospitals. Offer creative and fun space education lessons for children at the hospital.

Lesson plan ideas Google contract with Planetary Society Google VR cardboard glasses Titans of Space VR app Google has generously offered to donate their google cardboard VR glasses to our project. Titans of space is an android app that gives tour of space

Fun physics labs Guest speakers How do telescopes work? How to make one? Astrophotography lab Low-cost lesson plans adapted for children at hospital Guest speakers Astronauts Aeronautical engineers

Personalized book Currently working with a publishing company that writes personalized books about space for children.

Current Plans Working with UCSF Child Life Program Science summer camp 2-3 volunteers in each session 1-2 sessions/month Rotate volunteers for each session Program will continue into the academic year

Screening Can be fast! Gathering immunization records Scheduling occupational health appointments Submitting and passing background check

Ways you can get involved Help us design a curriculum adapted for hospitalized children. Volunteer at sites and conduct lessons Help us expand to other sites Schools Other hospitals Libraries Volunteers don’t have to go to hospital sites if they can’t or prefer not to. They can help out in many other ways.
