Mouse A handheld device that is moved on the surface of a desk or on a mouse pad Uses of the mouse -for selecting a menu -for highlighting icon or text -as a pointing device Types of mouse: -trackball -laser -touchpad

The joystick A device with a stick perpendicular to its base Mainly used in playing computer games The user moves the stick causing an object on the screen to be moved

A touch screen A special screen that is sensitive to touch so you do not have to use a keyboard or mouse

A touch pad A flat rectangular surface which senses movement of a finger on its surface Usually found on laptops

Magnetic Ink Character recognition A device that detects the presence of the magnetic ink and interpret the characters They are commonly used in banks for cheques and is very fast and accurate
