AP Government: Law Enforcement Week 2017 Classroom Session: Students studied 4th amendment issues with Mr. Cook and Officer Brown Mock Traffic Stop: Students participated in a “traffic stop” and learned the “do’s and don’t” of the road. We also witnessed a vehicle search Field Trip: We toured the ‘creek Police Dept. Officer Macerzak and K9 Officer “Hans” Field Trip: We met with Judge Wolaver and County Prosecutor Heller. Federal district Judge Thomas Rose visited BHS to speak with AP Government classes

Students visited the Greene County Courthouse. Beautiful Building.

Greene Co. Common Pleas Judge Stephen Wolaver discussed his role in the judicial system

Greene Co. Common Pleas Judge Stephen Wolaver shared stories of cases from his career with our AP Government students.

AP Government Students were given a brief history of the Greene County Courthouse which was built in 1902.

Officer Brown explained the role of the Police in the Grand Jury process

Students participated in a Mock Traffic Stop to educate them on the “rights and wrongs” of interacting with law enforcement. AP Government 3rd Period after the scenario

Students were allowed to investigate the equipment inside the cruiser as well as experience the backseat, not a comfortable place to be! 

Students visited the Beavercreek PD where Officer Brown introduced them to various individuals in the department such as the 911 call center and detectives.

Students experienced the feeling of being handcuffed. Like the back of a cruiser, not fun! 

Beavercreek PD K-9 Officer “Hans” With Officer Dave Macerzak Students studied how search and seizure applies to K9 searches

Hans demonstrated “suspect apprehension” for our students. Yes, that is Mr. Cook being attacked by an angry dog. 

Students were told Hans has a vertical leap of six feet! He was just playing in this picture. 

AP Government classes were visited by Federal District Court Judge Thomas where he discussed the differences between state and federal jurisdiction

Students listened to Judge Rose share stories from his long career on the bench
