Different oceans 71% of the world's surface are oceans. There are 5 different oceans that all have names. They are the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern (Antarctic), and Arctic.
How big are all the Oceans? Niki {From largest to smallest} Pacific: The Pacific Ocean is the largest of Earth’s oceanic divisions, with an area of 165.2 million km, and a depth of 4,280m. Atlantic: The Atlantic Ocean is the second largest of the world's oceanic divisions, following the Pacific Ocean with a area of 76.76 million km Indian: The Indian Ocean is the third largest of the world’s oceanic divisions with an area of 73.56 million km, and a depth of 3,890m. Southern: The Southern Ocean, also known as the Antarctic Ocean is the 2nd smallest ocean with an area of 20.33 million km. Arctic: The Arctic Ocean is the smallest and shallowest of the world's five major oceans.
Different Animals in The Ocean Here is a list of some of the animals that live in the ocean- Dolphins, whales, marine fish, Crustaceans (Lobsters, Shrimps and Crabs) and Mollusks (Squid and Octopus). All these animals have special adaptations to live in the oceans, for example penguins have waterproof feathers.
Tides, Currents and Waves Oceans move so much and are very restless because consisting movement of tides, currents and waves. The way that tides move is very predictable because the occur almost everyday, this is because of the oxygen brought from the sun and moon to earth. Almost all waves are caused by wind on the water surface, the waves size and speed all rely on the wind speed and pressure.
Ocean Food chains Ocean food chains explain what different types of animals eat for example an orca eats Sea lions. The food chain keeps on going until an animal in the food chain gets instinct .
Seabirds travel the longest distance but Long Migrations Most animals you see migrate are on land, but not many people have see animals migrate in the ocean...Well I know I haven’t! Many marine animals migrate often to go all around the different oceans. This involves a lot of traveling because the wide mass of sea. Seabirds travel the longest distance but ALso some animals that have a long travel ahead of them are Pelagic Fish, turtles, pinnipeds and whales. These animals have great navigation and efficient orientation. They all have different ways of knowing where to go...Turtles rely on the movement of the ocean. So many marine animals that migrate for long distances need great navigation, efficient orientation and for some to trust the movement of the sea.
