Home Learning – we can help … Bibliographies You will be expected to include your sources and not plagiarise. Not sure how to do this? Come and ask  Alternatively, we have a guide to help on our website …

Harvard Referencing

Making Time to Read Life in Secondary is hectic and you are always on the go. Make use of our Kindles and eBooks so you can read wherever you are. We have a few Kindles with nearly 300 titles preloaded on them for you to borrow. We have bookmarks available at the circulation counter to help you set up the eBooks. If you get stuck just ask for help.

Instructions for adding the Follett eReader to a Smart Device STEP 1 STEP 2 (A) Download and install Brytewave K-12 edition from the App store or Google Play. (A) Tap the Follett Shelf icon to go to school’s Follett Shelf. Click to download (B) Search for the eBook you want to read. (B) Enter your Patana Username and Password, then enter the Follett Shelf URL: wbb17463 (C) Tap on the cover or the Open Book link, then tap Checkout and Download Now. If, for any reason, your password does not work – just see a Librarian and they will be able to sort things out for you.

Finding a book can be a challenge … Information Books: SNF Fiction Books: SSF SFF SGN SMZ Electronic Books: eBooks (Follett Shelf)

Use the appropriate button to narrow your search Finding a book can be a challenge … So remember to use DESTINY … Go to: Student Dashboard 1) Our Libraries 2) Secondary Library 3) Destiny 4) Catalogue Use the appropriate button to narrow your search Show All Ctrl ‘F’

… so can you find these books … Information Books: A book on philosophy A book on the Vietnam War A book about animals A book about coffee A book about Ghosts Fiction Books: A book by Neil Gaiman A book from the Classic genre A story about a galactic adventure Electronic Books: eBooks (Follett Shelf) A mystery book A non-fiction book

… and answer the questions too … Information Books: Can you find all of the answers using just the NF section of the Library? Full marks if you do  WebPath Express and World Book Online: Half marks for resorting to the internet! Google: Quarter marks for resorting to the Google behemoth!

Not sure what to read – help is at hand Use our ‘I Pick’ and ‘Stuck’ Posters located around the library. Use the genre stickers displayed on the wall to help you quickly understand what genre a book is. Use our lucky dip box for a fun risk-taking way to decide what to read. Take a look at our recommended read icons available on the library website.

Finding it hard to concentrate on reading … Borrow one of our Playaways. You just need to ask at the circulation desk. You can access it here Read a magazine – a full list of what we have available is on our website. Listen to an audio book in our designated area or borrow a CD to take home. Great for long, boring car journeys. Read some of our short stories – they have this genre label on the spine.

Activities … We always have fun things to do in the library. Have you thought about: Signing up for our Senior Librarian Programme. Just ask K. Waree at the circulation desk Entering our competitions and quizzes Chilling out with a book at lunchtime, break and before or after school Doing the reading ‘Bingo Challenge’, when it is running Joining Goodreads – this would be great to do as a class. We strongly recommend it

Don’t be suspicious of us. Be regular customers – you are always welcome!
