Joe never intended to be a hero that day, but when he decided to save a woman on his tour from drowning, he become one. The one passenger fell into the lake and almost drowned. Joe leapt into the lake and saved Mabel Mallison. Even though Joe was wearing his new clothes that he hoped would help get him a job, he still dove in. “Without hesitation he dived overboard” proves he instantly reacted like a hero and didn’t think about himself.
