The Indiana State Flag

Indiana Becomes a State Indiana became a state in 1816. How long ago was that? In which year was Indiana 100 years old? In which year will Indiana be 200 years old?

The Indiana State Flag Indiana celebrated its 100th birthday in 1916. A 100th birthday is called a centennial. They decided to have a contest to design a flag. 200 people entered. Winner: Paul Hadley from Mooresville, Indiana.

The Indiana State Flag 13 stars in a circle around the outside – stand for the original 13 colonies.

The Indiana State Flag 5 stars in a half circle stand for the states that came after the first 13, but before Indiana. So what number state was Indiana?

The Indiana State Flag The flaming torch symbolizes Liberty Enlightenment The rays coming out from the flaming torch represent the spread of liberty and enlightenment.
