Auckland Relationship Management Team Relationship Manager – Workplace - Large Employers Relationship Manager – Intermediaries Accountants, Insurance advisors, Banks, Industry Groups Everyone in New Zealand has 24-hour, seven-day-a-week, no-fault comprehensive injury cover through ACC. Wounds, lacerations, sprains, strains, fractures, dislocations and work-related injuries such as hearing loss may all be covered. Most physical injuries are covered if they’re caused by: An accident A condition that comes on gradually because of your work (gradual process) Medical treatment 2

What ACC covers Personal injury caused by accident Work-related gradual process disease or infection Treatment injury Mental injury caused by: Sexual abuse or sexual assault Sudden traumatic event in the workplace Physical injury. ACC Discounts – Small & Medium Businesses Workplace Safety Discount 10% Work Levy Discount 3 years Available to any business with 10 or less employees or payroll of less than $578,000 Open to all industries Fill in a self-assessment booklet and provide Health & Safety documentation Maybe subject to an audit No Claims Discount Automatic enrolment if Work Levy <$10,000 and Liable Earnings over full-time minimum for the last 3 years How many weekly compensation days did ACC pay during the 3 year claims experience period 10% discount = 0 weekly comp days 0% no change = 1 – 70 weekly comp days 10% loading = 70+ weekly comp days

ACC Discounts – Medium & Large Businesses Workplace Safety Management Practices (WSMP) 10% 15% 20% Work Levy Discount for 2 years Available to any business and all industries, due to time demand usually accessed by larger businesses Register with ACC and complete a self-assessment Will be subject to an audit Experience Rating (ER) Automatic enrolment if Work Levy >$10,000 and Liable Earnings over full-time minimum for the last 3 years Up to 50% discount or 75% loading of industry based work levy

Your obligations If time off work is required due to a work injury, you must pay 80% of your employees earnings for the first week Any time off work must be covered by an ACC medical certificate You must supply ACC with your employee’s earnings information so weekly compensation can be calculated

Support Return to Work Have a rehabilitation policy Alternative suitable duties Communicate with your employee Participate in ACC interventions i.e. Workplace Assessments Ask the employee for their Medical Certificate. This will show diagnosis, restrictions, date of next review.

ACC CoverPlus Extra (LLWC)* Comparing ACC CoverPlus & ACC CoverPlus Extra John – Carpenter Self-employed since 2008 Average taxable income last 3 years - $80,000 ACC CoverPlus ACC CoverPlus Extra (Standard) ACC CoverPlus Extra (LLWC)* Level of Cover $64,000 Total Levy (incl GST) $3,440 $3,573 $3,470 *LLWC = Lower Levels of Weekly Compensation. This option is where the applicant can choose to forgo the non-abatement benefit of ACC CoverPlus Extra Standard, for a reduced levy. *CU = 41110 House Construction *2015/2016 levy rates

An extra $133 for CoverPlus Extra gives John: no need to prove loss of earnings 100% of the weekly amount negotiated if he can’t work because of injury full compensation whilst returning to work gradually This would give John added benefits for that extra $107, such as: Simplicity when it comes to lodging a claim – he does not need to find proof of earnings to provide to ACC, his compensation will be based on his pre-agreed level of cover He will receive 100% of his pre-agreed level of cover in weekly compensation as opposed to 80% of his liable earnings (up to the maximum) under CoverPlus John will still receive full compensation as he begins to return to work His level of cover can be negotiated at any time, in order to meet his needs. 14

John may apply to reduce his ACC CoverPlus Extra cover to the minimum statutory amount of $24,544 (Standard) Level of Cover $64,000 $24,544 Total Levy (incl GST) $3,440 $1,415 Whilst this is an option, please ensure that clients understand that their entitlement is significantly lower for weekly compensation and accidental death weekly compensation cover. Please note when reducing the level of cover consideration should be given to the effect on both weekly compensation and on fatal entitlements available to the insured’s spouse, children and dependants.

Payment Options

Payment Plans 4 - 6 month direct debit (no admin fee) 7 – 10 month direct debit (includes 5.4% admin fee) Debt Collection Policy Levies due 30 days from date of invoice 7 days overdue; reminder notice sent 12 days overdue, reminder call 32 days overdue; late payment penalty provisions apply. May be transferred to a debt collection agency.
