Español 1 8 de marzo de 2017 Thank you for taking my classes today. This lesson plan is for 5th, 6th and 8th. If you have any questions please feel free to call me. 801 589 2268. I will be home most of the day.

Have the kids get a Spanish reading book. They need to read for 7 minutes and after they are done reading have them créate their reading log entry. They should know how to do this. This will take about 5 or so minutes for the kids to complete it. When they are done, go on with the next slide.

What time is it? Es la una y cuarto- It is 1:15 Son las dos y cuarto- It is 2:15. Son las tres y cuarto- It is 3:15 etc. Using the sticks on the front white table, draw names a students to ask and answer calendar questions. The student you draw asks the question then chooses another student to answer it. Do this 5 or 6 times. Then have a student aske the question that is on the Power Point, while you show them the clock. Have them answer as a class. Then go on to the next slide.

My brother is tall and thin. My parents are short and wear glasses. My cat is fat and has white fur(hair). My best friend is from Alaska. My younger sister is blonde and has blue eyes. Have the kids open their notebooks to section 1 and write these sentences in Spanish. Give them about 5 minutes to complete this activity and then have 5 of them come up and write what they wrote on the board. Have the class check it to see if what they wrote is correct. Afterward move onto the next slide.

Los amigos rapidos (fast friends) Activity Procedure Sit facing a partner When the bell rings, start talking Take turns asking/answering personal questions When the timer rings, move one space to the right Wait for the bell to ring, then start talking Take 3 minutes to brainstorm questions, in Spanish, you would use to get acquainted with a new friend. Jot down the actual questions or some reminders on a paper. Follow the directions on the Power Point to do this speaking activity with the kids. Your bell can be the one up front on my White table. You can make the time random if you want or it can be equal. The mínimum time should be about 1 minute. After doing this activity for about 10 minutes, move onto the next slide.

Mi familia Draw a quick pic of your family on your notebook – you have 2 minutes! Set the timer for 60 seconds. Take turns talking to your group, in Spanish, about your family. See how long each of you can talk in Spanish – can you make the whole minute? Follow the directions given on the slide for this activity. Tell the kids that this is a practice for their presentation about their family that they will be doing sometime next week. This should take about 10-15 minutes.

La prueba de hablar -bring in a photo of your family by Friday -next week you will be randomly selected to talk to the class about your family -be ready to talk for 60-90 seconds El diario “mi familia” Vas a escribir sobre tu familia por 5 minutos. No pausa No habla No busca palabras en un diccionario Solo escribe, escribe, escribe… Después, cuenta las palabras españoles. Set a timer for 5 minutes, explain to the kids that they will be writing about their family. They are not to pause, talk or look up words, they must just write the entire time. This goes in Section 2 of their notebook. After the 5 minutes have the kids count up their words and write it on the side of the entry. A good goal is 100 words for them at this stage.

Los números grandes ¿Cómo se deletrea…? Contamos por decenas 13 8 40 23 17 14 100 Contamos por decenas 10 • 60 20 • 70 30 • 80 40 • 90 50 • 100 If time permits have them practice their numbers. They can spell the numbers on the left hand side and practice counting by ten. If they have not finished their activity packet, then they can do that for the remainder of class.
