Our Mission The Harvard Business School Association of Northern California is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is: To create deep and meaningful connections with alumni and innovative leaders throughout Northern California and HBS.  To facilitate lifelong learning and inspire through engaging, diverse and enriching programs and forums. To enable alumni to make a significant impact in their personal and professional communities.

Programs and Activities HBSANC programming brings together HBS alumni, industry thought leaders, C-Suite executives and academic leaders in over 100 well-attended events each year. Monthly Event Series San Francisco Finance and Investment Breakfast Peninsula Finance and Investment Luncheon Peninsula Networking Lunch Quarterly Event Series Entrepreneurial Networking Lunch (in San Francisco and the South Bay) Women in Tech Lunch San Francisco Networking Lunch Other regular events include Young Alumni Happy Hours, VIP experiences at sporting events, HBS Faculty visits, and Global Networking Nights, among many others.

Engaging the Greater Business Community Business Leader Dinner The Business Leader Dinner is our flagship annual event that honors an executive who, as determined by the HBSANC, has a demonstrated track record of successfully leading businesses through times of uncertainty, change and transition. More than 600 corporate tables have been sold for this event in the last 12 years. Past honorees include Pitch Johnson, Stephen Chu, Gordon Moore and Larry Baer, among many other distinguished leaders. Entrepreneurship Company of the Year Award Dinner For the past 43 years, this award has been presented to recognize outstanding entrepreneurship and honor a successful venture, its executives and key advisors. Past honorees include Box, Workday, Twitter, Salesforce, and many others. 2016’s Company of the Year honoree is Pinterest.

Promoting Entrepreneurship Alumni New Venture Competition The NVC is a global business plan competition for startups founded by HBS alumni that engages HBS Angel Investors and top-tier VC alumni as judges, mentors, and advisors. Our local program provides the foundational model for HBS NVC events worldwide. More than 30 teams competed in the HBSANC regional event to an audience of over 100 in 2016. Entrepreneurship Summit The annual E-Summit is the largest gathering of HBS entrepreneurs in the country, with more than 300 people in attendance. It features a start-up showcase and panel discussion with renowned investors in the HBS alumni community. Startup Partners Startup Partners organizes two-hour advisory lunch sessions between alumni and local Harvard-affiliated startups. The program is jointly sponsored by the HBSANC and the HBS Alumni Angels Association to support entrepreneurs and help expand their networks and industry knowledge.

Engaging the Greater Bay Area Community HBSANC Community Partners HBS Community Partners inspires and empowers HBS alumni to make a positive social impact in their community. We do this by offering alumni opportunities to leverage their skills and experience pro bono to help nonprofit organizations succeed.
