Condonation of Shortage of Attendance

Minimum Attendance for the Session Ending Examination Article 105(E) of Education Code A pupil may not be allowed to sit in the session ending examination if he/she has not put in a minimum of 75% of total attendance upto 31st January of the academic session including attendance out in a previous school if the students has been admitted on transfer. However, shortage of attendance can be condoned on valid medical grounds or special circumstances meriting this concession.

The competent authority for this shall be as follows: Attendance Competent Authority Less than 75% and upto 60% Principal of the respective KV Less than 60% and upto 25% Deputy Commissioner of the Region for Class IX & XI Less than 25% Commissioner

Rule 13.2 of CBSE examination Bye-laws No student from a school affiliated to the Board shall be eligible to take the examination unless he/she has completed 75% of the attendance counted from the opening of the Class IX/X/XI/XII upto the first of the month preceding the month in which examination commences. Shortage upto 15% of attendance only (i.e. upto 60%) in Class – X /XII may be condoned by the Chairman on recommendation of the Principal of the school.

Steps to be taken by the School Rule position of the Board as well as KVS has to be discussed in the first Parents meeting of Classes IX to XII. The same may be uploaded in the KV website and also displayed in the notice board. Letter to be sent to the Parents whose ward’s attendance is less than 75% from the very first month within 5th of the next month and record to be maintained.

Principal should personally talk to the Parent and record of the conversation to be maintained in a register with date. If a student is absent on medical ground, Class teacher should collect medical certificate within 7 days of joining class after illness. Recommendation for Condonation of shortage of attendance to be forwarded to CBSE / KVS Regional office within 5th February without fail given format A & B.
