THE SCHOOL & PARENT PARTNERSHIP

Common frustrations for parents I didn’t even do GCSEs – how can I help? There is always an excuse – I don’t know what to believe He always leaves everything to the last minute and then gets stressed I can’t stand the arguments and door slamming

How can you make a difference? Your involvement can make an enormous difference – the difference between 4s and 5s and 7s and 8s Parental support is vital to a child’s academic success When the school and parents are working together it will lead to stronger results The good news is that you don’t have to be an expert

Practical Tips Ensure they have a positive working environment (No clutter, technology away, dedicated space for working) Feed their brains! (Breakfast everyday, no energy drinks) Work-life balance (Not healthy to have too much of either) Encourage honest and open discussions about social networking and social media

Your role as a parent The unofficial attendance officer Provide the tools Project manager Sounding board Entertainment officer

= GCSE grade DROP in achievement. ATTENDANCE Research suggests that 17 missed school days a year = GCSE grade DROP in achievement.
