Inventory Goal Can someone come in off the street, look up an inventory item, walk to the warehouse, find the item and the correct count without an assistance from office staff? If not, what is preventing them from doing this? Purchasing is a key component to making sure this goal is achieved. If your company can achieve this, then all is right with inventory, it doesn’t matter the industry, sales, etc.

Key thoughts: PPV can be set at the purchasing setup (if not using inventory module), inventory setup, or at the inventory item level Use alternate ID’s whenever possible Make sure unit of measures are done correctly Auto number everything and don’t allow multiple PO’s on 1 receipt to make life easy Usually last cost works best for purchasing unless your standard cost is your actual cost Use warnings to prevent mistakes in keying receipts
