Preach the Word II Timothy 4:1-8

The Word of God is what is most important! It is the standard. God and Jesus will judge this world. II Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

The Word of God is what is most important! Their word judges us. John 12:47-48, “If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day.” Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

The Word of God is what is most important! It is the only thing that will bring about change in a person’s life. Paul told Timothy to, “Preach the word;” And he reminded him not to forget what he had learned from infancy. Faith begins by the preaching of the word. Romans 10:14, 17, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without a preacher. Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

The Word of God is what is most important! It is the only thing that will bring about change in a person’s life. Its not always popular, but it must still be preached—vs. 2 Paul told Timothy to preach the word, in season and out of season. Sometimes people want to hear it and sometimes they don’t. Timothy was to correct(reprove), rebuke, and encourage “A battery that has a positive without a negative won’t start anything.” We must not hear only what we want to hear—vs. 3-4 Ezekiel 33:30-33 Isaiah 30:9-11

The Word of God is what is most important! Putting it into practice leads to a crown of righteousness. Romans 12:2, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good pleasing and perfect will.”

The Word of God is what is most important! It is our offensive weapon. Ephesians 6:17, “…and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” We must hear, memorize it, live it, and share it. It is the church’s firm foundation.
